Gateshead is centre of Jewish orthodoxy. It all began in 1881 with Zachariah Bernstone leaving Newcastle for Gateshead and the gradual development of a small community in the Teams who migrated to Bensham. This previous sell-out talk by Peter Bladon earlier this year explores the institutions of Gateshead, the growing self-contained Jewish community and its key figures including Eliezer Adler.
