Jumpin Hot presents Dar Williams (USA) and Lesley Roley

an image is not available
Few modern American folk artists have enjoyed as prolific a career as the critically - acclaimed singer-songwriter Dar Williams. Her deeply personal music speaks to her thoughtful and sensitive approach to themes of gender roles, religion, the turbulence of adolescence and more. An outspoken environmentalist, Williams has performed with luminaries like Joan Baez, The Indigo Girls, and John Prine. Ms Williams has enjoyed a remarkable career which began when Joan Baez, an early fan of her music, took her out on the road and recorded several of her songs. In 1995, two years after self-releasing The Honesty Room, she signed with Razor & Tie Entertainment, beginning a long and mutually beneficial relationship. Ms Williams has released six studio albums and continues to tour around the world. Her latest album, Emerald, is her first new album in three years. The New Yorker has described Williams as "one of America’s very best singer-songwriters."
