The Lads Like Beer – St Mary’s Bookshop Event

an image is not available
James Hill was the foremost fiddler and composer on Tyneside during the mid-nineteenth century. Many of his tunes have stood the test of time and are still regarded as classics of the traditional fiddler’s repertoire. A modern ‘homage’ to James Hill in sculpture can be seen on nearby Bottle Bank. The Lads Like Beer is a well-illustrated account of his life and times. Included are the music and background notes for 65 tunes which are thought to have been composed by Hill or are associated with him.
