All portfolio holders continue to have supporters for their portfolio areas. In addition, in some areas — mainly in the portfolio area held by the Leader of the Council — 'Champions' have been identified.
The role of Champions varies from issue to issue and is usually to take a special interest in a particular issue, network with other Champions across the country, promote the issue in the organisation and generally support and complement the work of the portfolio holder.
